We had a short unplanned system outage today, and wanted to provide some more details.

For a period of 25 minutes from about 12:15 to 12:45 EDT we had a partial system outage that affected 15% of your end-users.  For that 15% of end-users, no analytics were collected, and no guides were shown.  This outage did not affect your end-users other than guides not showing to them during this period.  Also during this period you may not have been able to log in and access the Pendo application.

The outage was caused by our master DNS server failing, which caused the data on our DNS edge server to timeout.  We have set up additional monitoring and alerting to prevent this issue from being a problem in the future.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

We have a new version of the agent coming out next week, and with it, our release candidate. Feel free to play with it at https://d3accju1t3mngt.cloudfront.net/js/rc-pa.min.js

The main change is to support a new type of guide that we have in development called a “Guide Group”.  This new release should have no affect on your current guides, but as always, if you have any issues, please notify us at [email protected] immediately.  Also, as a reminder, here is some documentation on supported API for the Pendo agent.
